A Nationalised Bank

Our branch is located on the second floor of the Vindhyagiri CHS building. We are in Goregaon East, specifically on Sonawala Road in the Samant Wadi area. It is a bit of a climb up the stairs if you are not using the lift, which can be temperamental sometimes. Being a nationalised bank, we have all sorts of people coming in from the nearby housing societies. The office is quite plain with standard desks and those blue plastic chairs for customers to wait in. We handle a lot of passbook updates and cash deposits. On the first of the month, the place gets really crowded with elderly folks coming for their pensions. We try to keep the line moving, but sometimes the computer systems are slow and we just have to wait it out. It gets quite noisy with the sound of the ceiling fans and everyone talking at once. We’ve been part of this Mumbai neighborhood for a long time. There is a small tea stall just outside the building gate where we usually go for a quick break. We don't have fancy decorations on the walls, just the usual posters about interest rates and government schemes. It’s a regular job for us. We know many of our customers by their faces since they’ve been banking here for years. It’s a busy spot but we manage to get through the daily ledger by the evening.
