Ramji Building is one of those places that stays busy from early morning. We are tucked away on the second floor, specifically in office number twelve. If you know Kumbharwada, you know how the streets get with all the loading and unloading. Plot number one hundred and thirty is right by Durgadevi Udyan, so we get a bit of a view of the trees if we look out the right way. Inside the office, it is mostly what you would expect from a place dealing in metal and alloys. There are stacks of catalogs, small samples of different materials on the desks, and the phone usually rings quite a bit. It’s a practical space. We don’t have fancy carpets or designer lights. Most of the day is spent talking to people about weights, sizes, and what is currently available in the warehouse. The air usually smells a bit like iron and old paper. The walk up the stairs keeps us active since the building has that old Mumbai charm where everything feels a bit narrow. We have been in this part of Dr. Mitrson Mahimutra Marg for a while now. It’s a good spot because everyone in the trade passes through here anyway. We just keep our heads down and get the work done, making sure the orders are logged and the paperwork is sorted before the sun goes down and the market starts to quiet out.
