Patel Engineering Works

Our workshop is on Sanala Road in Morbi, right behind Mahesh Hotel Lati. It’s a busy part of town and there’s always a lot of industrial activity going on around us. You can usually hear the sound of machines and the smell of food from the hotel next door. We’ve got Plot No-1, so we’re easy to find if you’re looking for us. The shop floor is always covered in scraps and spare parts. We spend our time working on different projects, mostly stuff that people bring in when it breaks. It’s heavy work and our hands are rarely clean. We don't really use much technology for the business side of things; we just write things down and get to work. The heat in Morbi can be pretty intense, especially with the machines running, but we just keep the doors open and try to get a breeze. People stop by after eating at the hotel sometimes just to see what we’re up to. We’ve got a good routine going and we know most of the other shop owners on this road. It’s a tight-knit community here. We don't try to be anything we’re not. We just do the engineering work that’s needed and try to make sure everything works the way it’s supposed to before it leaves the shop. It's a lot of manual work and sweating, but that is the nature of the trade. We just keep our heads down and work.
