Living and working around Lajpat Nagar means you are used to the noise and the constant movement of people. Sundrop Steels is tucked into B-14, and if you saw the place, you would see it is a practical setup. We handle a lot of steel here. It’s heavy, it’s cold in the winter, and it’s a bit of a struggle to move around when the narrow lanes get blocked by delivery trucks. We have been doing this for a while now, mostly focusing on getting the steel out to whoever needs it for their construction or whatever project they have going on. The office part is small, just a few desks and a computer that sometimes acts up when we have too many invoices to print. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in Delhi, just trying to keep the business running smoothly. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we spend a lot of time together, maybe more than we do with our own families. It’s not a shiny showroom. You will see dust on the shelves and the smell of metal is always there. We drink a lot of chai to keep going. When someone calls asking for a specific grade of steel, we just go back and check the piles. It is basic work, but it fills the day. We have our routines and we stick to them even when things get a bit hectic around the holidays.
