Our place is on Rampur Road, right near the P.C.F. Khad Godown in Vijay Nagar. It’s easy to find if you look for the big warehouse structures and the trucks. The air around here usually smells like dust and metal. We spend most of our time moving heavy stacks around the yard. It’s a noisy environment with the constant sounds of loading and the trucks idling outside. We’ve been here in Vijay Nagar for quite some time now. The office is just a small corner partitioned off from the main storage area. It’s usually covered in a thin layer of grit no matter how much we sweep it. We deal with various metal parts and scraps that get sent out to different places. It’s physical work and your hands are usually dirty by ten in the morning. We don't have fancy uniforms or a lobby. People just walk in through the main gate if they need to talk to us. The weather dictates a lot of our pace; when it rains, everything slows down because the yard gets muddy and slippery. We have a small group of workers who know exactly how to handle the heavy stuff without getting hurt. Most of us have been doing this for years, so we don't need much instruction. We just check the orders against the inventory and get the trucks loaded for the next trip. It’s a basic operation on a busy road, but it works for us.
