Sachin Goel

Sachin Goel operates out of 342/1, Anand Puri, which is just off Railway Road in Meerut. Being so close to the railway station means there is always a sense of movement around us. You can hear the distant sound of trains and the constant hum of traffic from the main road. The office is a modest one. It’s basically just a few rooms filled with shelves and a couple of sturdy tables. We spend a lot of time here, especially during the busy months of the year when the deadlines start piling up. It’s a one-man show in many ways, though there’s usually someone around to help with the filing and the errands. The walls are painted a simple cream color, and we have a few old calendars hanging up. We don't spend much on decorating because it doesn't really matter for the kind of work we do. People find their way to Anand Puri when they need help with their taxes or other official documents. We take things as they come, solving one issue at a time. It’s not always fast, but we make sure it’s done properly. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit and talk until the generator kicks in or the lights come back on. It’s just the reality of working in this part of town, and we don't mind it much. We just focus on the files on the table.
