Gurcharan Singh Sons is over at 160, New Market, right by Begum Bridge. It’s a busy area and the shop has been there for quite some time. We’ve got a lot of history in this spot. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you’ll usually find one of us behind the counter or back in the storeroom checking on the stock. The market gets pretty crowded, especially on the weekends, so it’s always lively around here. We don’t have a big corporate team or anything fancy like that. It’s just us and a few helpers making sure everything is in order. The building itself is older, but it serves us well. We’ve seen the market change a lot over the years, with new shops opening and old ones closing, but we’ve stayed right here. People know us in this neighborhood. We don’t do much advertising; most people just walk in because they’ve been coming here for years or someone told them about us. We keep things pretty simple. There’s a lot of stuff tucked away on the shelves, and sometimes it takes us a minute to find exactly what we’re looking for, but we always get there. It’s a typical market shop, nothing too special to look at, but we put in the hours every day. We open early and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. It is a long day but we like the routine.
