Bal Shiksha Niketan

Bal Shiksha Niketan is right in the heart of Khandak Bazar in Meerut. If you’ve ever been to Khandak Bazar, you know how crowded and lively it can be with all the shops and people moving around. The school is tucked into this busy area, and it’s been a part of the local scene for a long time. It’s not a large campus with green fields; instead, it’s a more compact building that fits into the urban landscape. You have to navigate through the narrow lanes to get to us. The building itself has that old Meerut charm, with thick walls and high ceilings in some of the rooms. Because we are in the market area, there’s always a background hum of the city—rickshaw horns, people talking, and the sounds of trade. Inside the gates, though, it’s all about the kids. The classrooms are simple and filled with the usual school stuff like old maps and piles of notebooks. The teachers are used to the bustle of the bazaar and just get on with their work. We have a small central area where the students gather, and it gets quite loud during the lunch hour. Most of our students live just a few streets away, so the school feels like an extension of the neighborhood. It’s a very grounded place where things are done the old-fashioned way without any pretense or fancy labels or expensive equipment.
