Our office is located at 175D, Kailasanatha Nagar, Sattanathapuram. It is a quiet enough spot in the Sirkazhi area. We go by the name Sirkazhi Neithal Jeevidam Farmers Producer Company Limited. The "Neithal" part is important to us because it connects us to the type of soil and the landscape we have around here near the coast. We are not a big company with a marketing department or anything. We are just farmers who realized that if we do things in a group, we might actually get somewhere. Most of our days are spent dealing with the actual crops and talking to the families in the village. Sattanathapuram is where we usually gather to discuss what we are going to plant next or how to get the bags moved to the warehouse. It can be a bit chaotic sometimes because everyone has an opinion on how things should be done. The office at Kailasanatha Nagar is where we keep the records and try to make sense of the government rules. We have a lot of members now, so the meetings can get long, especially when the weather is changing. It is just a practical way for us to survive as farmers in Sirkazhi. We do not have any big speeches to give. We just show up, do the work at the fields, and then come back to the office to finish up the day’s notes.
