We started Needamangalam Farmers Producer Company Limited a while back. You can find our main spot at 720, Vaikasi Veethisamathuvapuram in Adhanur. It is a bit of a mouthful to say the name, but we are just the local farmers from the Adhanur(Kvn) area. We decided that working together was the only way to really get ahead. Farming is unpredictable. One year you have too much rain, and the next year there is none. We share the risks this way. The office is right there in the village, so it’s easy for anyone to drop in and talk. We usually chat about what we’re planting or if anyone has heard anything about the market prices. It’s very informal. We don't wear suits. Most of us are in our work clothes most of the time. The goal is just to make sure we can keep our farms running. We handle the buying of supplies together to save a bit of money. It’s a lot of talking and deciding things as a group, which can be slow, but it’s fair. Everyone has a voice here. We are just trying to do right by our families and the land we’ve been working on for years. It’s a simple life, but we are proud of what we produce together as a community. It feels much better than trying to struggle on our own.
