City Junior High School

City Junior High School is right in the thick of things at 61/C, Mahavidya Chouraha. Mathura City is a crowded and vibrant place, and being near the chouraha means there is never a dull moment. You can hear the horns honking and people shouting outside our walls almost all day long. It’s just the atmosphere of Mathura. Our school is a junior high, so the students are at that age where they are starting to grow up but still have a lot of kid in them. The building is an older one, which gives it a bit of character. We have several rooms and a small courtyard where everyone gathers. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes when everyone is out at once. The teachers here have been with us for a long time. We all know each other’s habits and how we like our tea. We don't have fancy equipment, but we make do with what we have. It’s about the interactions between the staff and the kids more than anything else. We see a lot of pilgrims passing through the city, and that adds to the feel of the place. We keep the gate closed during school hours to keep the noise out a bit. It’s a busy life here at the chouraha, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. It’s home for us and the kids.
