Brijgopala Food Court, Mathura.

Even though the name says Mathura, we are actually based at M-97 in Guru Harkishan Nagar, Paschim Vihar. It’s a bit of a trek from the actual Mathura, but we bring that vibe here to New Delhi. The food court stays busy, especially during the lunch hour when everyone from the neighborhood drops by. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen prepping ingredients and making sure the counters are wiped down. It gets loud and hot in the back, but that’s just how it goes with cooking. We have several different stalls and spots where people can grab a bite. It isn't anything sophisticated. We have plastic chairs and tables that we shuffle around when a big group comes in. Most of our regulars are families from nearby blocks who don't feel like cooking at home. We try to keep the floors swept, but with kids running around, it’s a constant job. The menu is written on some boards near the entrance. Sometimes we run out of certain items early if it’s a holiday. We are just a local spot for people to eat. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day, but seeing people enjoy their meal makes it okay. We’ve been at this Paschim Vihar location for a good while and the neighbors know us well by now. We focus on serving up plates that make folks feel at home.
