S D I T is where you will find Harisha Rai working as a lab instructor. We are located in the Department of Chemistry over at the S.D.I.T. campus in Kenjar. This is right on Airport Road in Mangalore. If you are driving towards the airport, you pass right by us. It is a very specific kind of place to work. Being in the chemistry department means there is always a faint smell of chemicals in the hallways. Harisha Rai spends most of the time looking after the equipment and helping out in the lab. It is not a typical office job. The weather in Mangalore can be quite damp, especially during the monsoon, so we spend a lot of time making sure the lab supplies stay dry and safe. The D.K. district has its own pace of life, and being out here near the airport road is a bit quieter than the main city center. We deal with students and faculty every day. It is a lot of practical work, checking inventories and setting up experiments. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. We just have the lab and the equipment. It’s a steady kind of life. People come and go for their classes, and we stay here keeping the chemistry department running. It’s a functional space for people who actually like science and hands-on work.
