Our place is in the Himalya Shopping Arcade, which is right across from the Naggar Parishad and the Hdfc Bank. It is a busy little corner. We spend our days surrounded by trekking gear, maps, and heavy boots. People come in with a lot of questions about the mountains. We try to give them practical answers based on what we see every day. The office is usually a bit cluttered with backpacks and ropes. We aren't into the corporate style of doing things. We just like being outdoors and helping others do the same. When the climbing season starts, it gets very hectic around here at Glacial Adventures(India Pvt. Ltd. We have to check all the equipment and make sure the guides are ready. Sometimes we sit outside the arcade and watch the people go by. Manali has a specific energy and we are right in the middle of it. We deal with a lot of paperwork for permits too, which is the less exciting part of the job. It is an honest business where we rely on what we know about the weather and the trails. We don't use fancy brochures to get people in. Most visitors just walk in because they saw our sign or heard about us from someone else. It is cold in the winters, so we keep the space warm and welcoming for anyone who stops by. We just take it one group at a time and do our best to help.
