Jain Iron Syndicate

Jain Iron Syndicate is located right by the Jain Iron City Gate in Loha Bazar, Malerkotla. If you’ve ever been to Loha Bazar, you know it’s a place where you have to watch where you’re walking because there is iron and steel everywhere. The sound of metal hitting metal is something you just stop hearing after a while because it’s always there. We are right near the gate, so we see everyone coming in and going out of the market. It’s a very industrial feel, with a lot of heavy trucks and people moving large loads. Our space is mostly just a big storage area with a small corner where we keep the desk and the computer. Everything has a bit of a metallic smell to it, and your hands are never really clean by the end of the shift. We spend the morning checking the stock and the afternoon dealing with the loading and unloading of the trucks. It’s hard work, and it can get really hot under the tin roof during the summer months. We don't have air conditioning or anything like that, just some big fans that move the hot air around. People in Malerkotla know us as a place that’s been around for a bit, and we like the familiarity of the bazaar. It’s a tough environment but it’s where we belong, and the days go by pretty fast when you're busy with the iron and the heavy lifting. We usually close up once the sun starts going down over the gate.
