Tajmahal Store

Our shop is called Tajmahal Store and you can find us on Vaigai Road in Samayanallur, Madurai. We have been running this small business for many years now, and it is where we spend most of our time. It is a general store that is packed with all kinds of things like soap, detergents, tea, and various grains. The space inside is quite small, so we have boxes and bags tucked into every corner to make sure we have enough stock for everyone. It can get very hot here in Madurai, so we have a small ceiling fan that tries its best to keep the air moving. We aren't a big supermarket with aisles; you just come to the counter and tell us what you need. Most of our customers are neighbors who live just down the street, so we usually have a bit of a chat while we are getting their items ready. We don't use any computers for our work; we just remember the prices and write them down on a piece of paper. It is a very simple way of doing things, but it has worked for us for a long time. We open the doors early in the morning and we don't close until late in the evening. It is a lot of standing and lifting heavy things, but it is a good way to earn a living. We just try to keep the essentials ready for whoever needs them.
