About Meenachi Tea Stall – Food & Beverages in Madurai
My tea stall is at 364, Kariyamanikkam Road. If you are going through Edumalai, you will probably pass by us. It's a small place, really just a stall where I brew tea all day long. I started this because there wasn't much else on this stretch of the road for people to stop at. I have a few benches outside where people can sit and rest their legs. The tea is always hot, and I keep some biscuits in jars on the shelf. The road outside can get quite dusty when the trucks go by, so I have to wipe the counter down every hour. It's mostly farmers and workers from around here who stop by. We talk about the weather or the crops. I don't have a big staff, it's mostly just me and sometimes my nephew helps out when he isn't in school. The stove is old but it works fine for what I need. I buy the milk fresh every morning from a neighbor. It's a quiet life here on Kariyamanikkam Road. People know they can get a quick glass of tea and be on their way. I don't try to make it anything more than it is. Just a simple stall for the community. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, so it stays warm even when the breeze picks up. We stay open as long as there are people walking by who might want a drink. It's a modest life, but it suits me fine.
