Junior Engineer

Down here in Melur, specifically Muthamil Nagar, I’ve been working as a Junior Engineer for some time. My father is P. Murugesan and our place is on Alagar Kovil Road. Madurai is a big district but Melur has its own rhythm. My address is 4-5-433E1. It’s easy to find if you know the landmark. I don't spend money on fancy advertisements because word of mouth is how things work here. I spend a lot of time on my feet, checking on sites and making sure the measurements are right. I’m not a fan of sitting in a chair all day. The sun in Tamil Nadu can be tough, but you get used to it. My desk is usually covered in blueprints and some loose pens. I don't have a corporate way of speaking. I just tell people what needs to be done. If the foundation is wrong, I say it’s wrong. There is no point in sugarcoating things when it comes to engineering. I’ve seen many changes in the neighborhood over the years. New houses going up and old ones getting fixed. I’m just one part of that process. It’s a job that requires patience and a bit of dirt on your shoes. I like the honesty of the work. That is why I keep doing it. Every day brings a different challenge and I just take them as they come without any fuss.
