Chettinadu Readymix Concrete

Down at Plot No. 56 in Alagappapuram, that’s where you’ll find Chettinadu Readymix Concrete. We are right in the Karikudi area. It’s a site full of big trucks and piles of gravel. Running a readymix setup means we are always watching the clock. Once that concrete is mixed, it has to go. It can get pretty hectic in the mornings when everyone wants their delivery at the same time. The yard stays fairly messy with sand and water, but that's just part of the deal. We don't have a fancy lobby for customers. Usually, people just call or walk up to the little shack we use as an office. It’s noisy because of the machinery, so we mostly talk loud. We've been operating out of this plot for some time now. The neighbors know us by the sound of the drums turning on the trucks. We try to keep things moving as fast as possible so the concrete stays fresh for the jobs. It’s not a glamorous business, and we don't pretend it is. Most of the crew has been here a while and knows the routine by heart. If a machine breaks down, we fix it ourselves and keep going. We just provide the mix for local slabs and foundations. It's practical work that fills up our days from sunrise to sunset. We are just a local bunch trying to stay on schedule and keep the mixers rolling. Sometimes the line of trucks stretches out toward the gate early in the day.
