The Little Export Company

Over at 236-R in Model Town, you’ll find The Little Export Company. We aren't in a big industrial park or a tall office tower. We operate right out of a building in a regular neighborhood. It makes things feel a bit more personal, though it can be a bit of a squeeze when a big shipment of boxes arrives and takes up the whole driveway. The neighbors probably wonder what we’re up to sometimes with all the packing tape noise. Inside, it’s mostly just stacks of goods ready to be wrapped and labeled. We don't have a staff canteen or a board room; we just use the kitchen table when we need to have a talk about things. It’s a small operation, just a few of us making sure the paperwork matches what’s in the boxes. Sometimes we stay late into the evening, and the sound of the crickets outside is the only thing we hear while we’re finishing up the last labels. We don't have any grand ideas about being a global giant. We just like the fact that we can walk to work and that we know the mailman by name. It’s a quiet way to run a business, and it suits our style. We deal with the small details ourselves because that’s the only way we know how to do it. It’s simple, it’s homey, and it keeps us moving.
