T.C. Oswal & Co.

We have been here at Namak Mandi for quite a long time now. It is usually pretty crowded outside our door because of the market being what it is. Most days start with opening up the shutters and seeing who is already waiting out there on the street. T.C. Oswal & Co. isn’t a very big place, just enough room for the desks and some storage in the back. You can hear the noise from the carts and the people shouting from early morning until we close up late. Sometimes the dust from the road gets in, so we spend a lot of time wiping things down. It is just the way things are in this part of town. We handle a lot of paperwork and people coming in to check on their orders. The fans hum all day long to keep the heat away, but it doesn't always work very well when the sun is high. We know most of the neighbors by now, and the tea seller knows exactly when to bring our glasses over without us even asking. It’s a busy spot, and there is always something that needs to be moved or sorted or counted. We don’t have fancy chairs or a big sign, just the name on the wall and the work we do every day. It gets loud and a bit messy, but that is how a real business looks when you are right in the middle of a market like this. It’s mostly just us and the customers coming in and out.
