Sonia Batteries

Sonia Batteries is located near CMC Ludhiana on Sikandari Road, right by the Jalandhar Bye Pass at BV 290. It is a corner shop that always seems to have stacks of heavy black batteries sitting on the floor. The smell of lead and acid is pretty strong when you walk in. We spend a lot of our time testing old batteries to see if they can still hold a charge. When the electricity goes out in the neighborhood, the shop gets very busy with people looking for inverters. It is a small space, so we have to be careful where we step. There is a workbench in the back where we do the repairs and refills. The traffic from the Jalandhar Bye Pass is always humming in the background. It’s a gritty kind of job. My hands are usually stained with something or other by the end of the day. We have been here at this location for a good number of years now. We don't have a website or any of that stuff. Most people just see the sign while they are driving toward the bypass and pull over. We have a small desk where we handle the cash and receipts. It is a simple business. We just help people get their cars started or keep their lights on when the power cuts out. We are just local folks working in a shop that has been around forever.
