Being over at G- 39- 205 Sherpur Khurd means we’re a bit away from the main city buzz, but Berry Marbles Pvt. Ltd. stays plenty busy regardless. If you walk into our yard, you’ll see slabs of stone everywhere. It’s heavy work and the dust gets on everything, especially when the wind picks up across the open space. We spend a lot of time moving crates and checking the edges of the marble for any cracks or odd markings. It is mostly a quiet place until the machinery starts up or a truck pulls in to load up. The office is just a small room where we keep the ledgers and a couple of chairs for people to sit while we talk about square footage. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights and mirrors. People come here to see the actual stone as it arrives from the quarry. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, like when it rains and the ground gets muddy, but the work doesn’t really stop. We’ve got a small crew and we all know the routine by heart now. You learn a lot about how different stones behave after a few years of handling them every single day. It’s just about being practical and making sure the pieces go out the way they should. Most of our neighbors are other industrial shops, so it’s a pretty straightforward environment for everyone involved.
