Roop Square

Roop Square is right at the Main Chowk in Ghumar Mandi. If you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know how hectic the intersection gets. There is always someone honking their horn or a rickshaw trying to squeeze through a tiny gap. We are right in the middle of all that noise and energy. The shop opens up early because the market starts moving fast as soon as the sun is up. We usually spend the first hour just tidying up the racks and making sure the floor is swept. It’s a lot of physical work, honestly. Moving boxes around and keeping track of what we have in the back takes up most of our afternoon. We don’t have a big corporate team, it is just us making sure the doors stay open and the lights stay on. Sometimes we have tea with the guy who runs the stall across the road. The winters here can get pretty chilly, so we keep a heater tucked away behind the counter. In the evenings, the lights from all the signs in the chowk make the whole place look completely different. We’ve seen many businesses come and go around this square, but we are still here, just doing what we do every day without much fuss. It is a busy life, but it keeps us on our toes and the days go by pretty quick. That is just how it is for us.
