Padmani Lathes (P) Ltd. is tucked away at 3740, Shimla Puri, right near the Daba Chowk area. If you know the Gill Road neighborhood, you know it’s a place built on machinery and hard labor. Our shop isn't hard to find if you’re familiar with the local landmarks. It’s an old-school setup, through and through. We have the lathes and the metalworking tools all laid out in a way that makes sense to us, even if it might look a bit crowded to someone else. There’s always that distinct smell of cutting oil and the sound of metal being turned. We don't care much for fancy decorations or big, bright signs. The walls could probably use some paint, but we’re usually too busy with the work on the floor to worry about that. Most of the people working here have lived in the Shimla Puri area for a long time. We know the local businesses and we know our customers by their first names. We don't use complicated language to explain what we do here. We build machines, we fix what’s broken, and we handle the daily orders as they come in. It’s honest, steady work that keeps us here from early morning until the sun goes down. Some days the heat in the shop is tough to deal with, but we keep the fans on and just keep moving. It’s just how we do things on Gill Road.
