Orion Engineering Works

Orion Engineering Works is based out of B-13 here in Focal Point. It’s a standard industrial shed, nothing too special to look at from the outside. Inside, it’s a different story with all the lathes and milling tools going throughout the day. We’ve been working out of this spot for quite a while. The floor is concrete and has seen better days, stained with oil and marked by years of moving heavy equipment. We do a lot of custom parts and repairs for various clients. Sometimes a farmer brings in a broken tractor part, and other times it’s a component for a bigger factory nearby. Every day brings something a little different to our workbench. It’s not a quiet place by any means. There is always the smell of cutting oil and the constant sound of metal being turned. We keep a small crew, mostly local guys who grew up around here and know their way around a workshop. We don’t have a marketing department or anyone to answer the phones with a scripted greeting. If the phone rings, someone just wipes their hands on a rag and picks it up. We try to stay organized, but tools have a way of wandering off when you're busy in the middle of a job. We just keep our heads down and finish the work as it comes in. It’s honest labor and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. No frills, just engineering.
