Nauriya Ram Narayan Das is located right in the heart of Gur Mandi. If you’ve ever been to the mandi, you know how it is. It’s loud, crowded, and there is always something moving. We are right there in the middle of all that activity. The smell of the market is something you never really forget, it’s part of the daily life here. I’ve been coming to this spot for a long time. The shop itself is old, with thick walls and a heavy door that we pull up every morning. We don’t have any fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just shelves and stacks of goods. Most of our visitors are people who have been coming to Gur Mandi for decades. They know exactly where to find us. We spend a lot of time talking to the other traders and the guys moving the sacks around. It’s a hard-working atmosphere. Sometimes the rain makes the lanes a bit muddy, but business carries on anyway. I usually sit on a small stool near the entrance so I can see everyone coming and going. It’s not a place for someone who wants peace and quiet, but for us, it’s just where we work. There’s no big secret to how we do things. We just show up, open the doors, and deal with whatever the day brings in the market. It’s been this way for as long as I can remember, and I don't think it will change much soon.
