Matharoo Electricals

You can find Matharoo Electricals over on Firozpur Road in the Old Bazar area. This part of town is old and the streets are narrow, so getting a delivery van in here is always a bit of a headache. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with all sorts of electrical bits. We have coils of wire in different colors, switches, and those little plastic boxes that go inside walls. It’s a bit of a maze inside. If you need something specific, you usually have to wait a minute while we go find it in the back stacks. The lighting isn't the best, ironically for an electrical shop, but we know where everything is kept. We get a lot of local electricians coming in early to grab supplies for their jobs. They usually have a coffee and chat for a bit before heading off. The walls are covered in old calendars and some dusty shelves that haven't been cleared in years. Firozpur Road is always loud with bikes and people, so we usually have the radio playing to drown out the noise a bit. It is a family thing, really. We’ve been here since the market was much smaller than it is today. We don't do much advertising; the regulars know we are here and that’s usually enough to keep us moving. It's just a simple shop selling wires and bulbs to whoever needs them. We keep the doors open and just wait for the next person to walk in with a broken switch.
