We are located at A-12 in the Premier Ind. Complex, which is out in Nichi Mangli along Chandigarh Road. It’s a long drive out here for some of us, but this is where the work happens. Alcos Engineering And Technology isn't some high-tech glass building; it’s a solid industrial unit with high ceilings and the constant hum of machinery in the background. The air usually smells a bit like oil and cold metal, which is pretty standard for an engineering shop. We have a small office area tucked in the front where we keep the computer and some old files, but most of the time is spent out on the floor. The floors are stained with a few oil spots here and there, no matter how much we try to scrub them. It’s a busy complex, so there is always someone loading a truck or shouting over the noise of a generator nearby. On rainy days, the sound on the metal roof is so loud you can’t hear yourself think, so we just focus on the machines. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just do the engineering work that comes in and try to keep everything running smoothly. There’s a tea stall just outside the main gate where we usually go around four to get away from the noise for a bit. It’s just a regular group of people working hard. The commute back on Chandigarh Road can be a bit of a headache.
