If you go down Samrala Road into the main market in Sherpur, you will find us there. Kanpur Auto Electric Works is what the sign says, even if the paint is peeling a bit on the edges. We spend most of our time looking at wires and testing alternators. The shop is right in the middle of the market rush, so there is always noise from the street. We get all sorts of vehicles pulling up, from small hatchbacks to those heavy-duty trucks that drive across the state. The floor is concrete and usually has a few tools lying around that we forgot to put back in the box. It is a bit messy but we know where everything is when we need it. Some days are slow and we just sit on the stools outside and watch the traffic, while other days everyone seems to have a blown fuse at the same time. The humidity in this part of Punjab can be tough, especially when you are leaning over a hot engine for an hour. We have been in Sherpur for a while so we know the other shop owners around here pretty well. We don't do anything too complicated, just fixing the electric bits that stop working in cars. Most of the time it is just hard work and using a multimeter to find where the current stopped. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until we close the shutters.
