We are out in Raekot, over in Phase VII, plot K 104. It’s an engineering workshop, so expect a lot of grease and metal filings on the floor. We do a bit of everything—repairing parts, making small components, whatever the local factories need. I’m usually covered in oil by noon. It’s not a clean job, but I like working with my hands. We have a few lathes and a milling machine. They are old but they still work fine if you treat them right. My son helps me out now. He’s learning the trade. We don't have a big team, just a couple of workers who have been with me for years. We get orders from all over the area. Sometimes we have to go out to the sites to fix things. The drive is long, but it’s a change of pace. We don't have any fancy brochures. Our work speaks for itself, or so people say. If a machine is broken, we fix it. That’s the whole story. The workshop gets cold in the winter, so we keep a small heater in the corner. We just do our bit and try to get the jobs done on time. It’s a simple way to live. Not much to complain about. We close up at six and I head home to wash the grease off. Tomorrow it all starts again at Phase VII. It is honest work and it keeps us busy enough. We don't ask for much more than that.
