G T B Transformers

Our workshop is located in Shimlapuri, right at Street Number 4 near Kwality Chowk. The building number is 1621 if you are looking for us. We deal with transformers, which means there is a lot of heavy lifting and handling of copper wire and steel cores. The place is usually full of big metal tanks and the smell of transformer oil, which lingers on your clothes long after you go home. We spend a lot of time winding coils by hand or with the help of some old machines we have in the back. It is a slow process because you have to get the insulation right or the whole thing will fail later on. We have people coming in with units that have burnt out during the peak summer heat when the load is too high. We take them apart, see what went wrong, and try to put them back together. The floor is concrete and usually has some oil patches here and there despite us trying to keep it clean. It is hard on the hands because the wire can be quite stiff and the metal edges are sharp. We aren't trying to be anything special, just a local shop in Shimlapuri getting the electrical work done so people can keep their power running. Some days the humidity makes the work a bit harder but we just get through the repairs one by one.
