Birdi Battery Works

Our shop, Birdi Battery Works, is located near the Radha Krishna Textile Market on G T Road, right along the Ring Road in Surat. It’s a very busy area with trucks moving in and out of the market all day long. We deal with heavy batteries for all sorts of vehicles, so there is usually a bit of grease and acid staining on the workshop floor. It’s not the kind of place you’d want to wear nice clothes to visit. We’ve got stacks of old batteries in the corner waiting to be picked up for recycling. The air smells a bit like lead and chemicals, which is just part of the daily job. We don't have a fancy waiting room or anything like that. Most customers just wait outside or stand near the workbench while we test their units. We’ve been at this spot for a while now, and the traffic on Ring Road never seems to slow down. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting those heavy casings and cleaning terminal connections. Sometimes the power goes out in the block, and we have to work by flashlight to finish a job. We aren't big on talking; we just get to the work and see what the problem is. If a battery is dead, we tell you it’s dead. It’s a simple, gritty business. We keep our tools close and our prices fair, and that seems to keep the local drivers coming back whenever they are in a fix.
