Kalyani Creations

Kalyani Creations is located at B 12 Sector A in Mahanagar. This is more of a residential part of town, so it doesn't have the same noise as the big commercial centers. We focus on making custom outfits and doing a lot of traditional embroidery and stitching. The workspace is inside a building that feels more like a home than a shop. We have different stacks of fabric sitting in the corners, ranging from simple cottons to some heavier silks. There is usually a pot of tea going in the small kitchen area for when we take breaks. Most of our customers are ladies from the Mahanagar area who have been coming to us for years. They bring their fabric and we talk about how they want it stitched. Sometimes the work takes longer than we thought, especially if the handwork is complicated. We don't have a big sign outside, just enough so people can find the right door. The sewing machines are kept in the back room where there is better light. On rainy days, the place feels a bit dark, so we use extra lamps to see the stitches. It is a small team here, and we all know our roles. We don't really follow the big trends you see in malls; we just make what people like to wear. It is a quiet, steady kind of business and we like it that way.
