Radhey Shyam Sweets

We’ve been here at 12/63, Udaiganj Cantt Road for quite some time now. Every morning starts about the same way, with the milk arriving in those big metal cans before the sun is even really up. My hands are usually sticky by eight o’clock from the sugar syrup. Radhey Shyam Sweets isn't a big place, just a regular shop where we try to keep things simple. The traffic on Cantt Road gets pretty bad in the afternoons, so it can be a bit noisy if you’re sitting near the front. We have this old wooden counter that’s seen better days, but it does the job. I often see the same faces every single day, mostly people living nearby who just want a few pieces of something sweet after dinner. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff early, and I have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s just how it is when you’re only a few people working in a small kitchen. The floor is a bit uneven in the back, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we’re too busy cooking to worry much about that. My nephew helps out on the weekends when he isn't in school. It’s a lot of standing on your feet, but it’s what we do. We don't have a website or anything like that, just this spot on the road where we spend our days.
