Ma Brothers Export Import Traveling Firms is based right here in Lucknow. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there’s usually a couple of us in the office at any given time. We handle a mix of things, from moving goods to helping people with their travel plans. The office isn't very large and it’s packed with stacks of folders and old travel brochures that we should probably throw away. We have two main desks and a sofa for visitors that has a spring sticking out on the left side. Lucknow can be a busy place, and our phones are usually ringing with people asking about shipments or tickets. We don't have a big marketing budget or a website with lots of photos. Most people find us because they know someone who worked with us before. It’s a lot of talking and writing things down in big registers. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit there and wait, maybe have some snacks. We don't have a corporate dress code, so we just wear whatever is comfortable for the weather. It’s a bit disorganized at times, with papers everywhere, but we eventually find what we’re looking for. We just like being in the middle of the city and doing our own thing. It’s a simple business and we’re just regular guys trying to keep the firm running every day.
