Amrit Industries

Out here at Talkatora Industrial Estate, you’ll find Amrit Industries. It’s an industrial area, so there’s a lot of manufacturing going on around us. We fit right in with the rest of the shops. Our space is mostly taken up by machinery and raw materials. We make things out of metal, mostly for other businesses. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find a reception desk with flowers. It’s more about the smell of oil and the sound of machines running. We’ve been here for a good while. Some days the work is smooth, other days a machine breaks down and we spend hours fixing it. That’s just part of the job. We don't have a fancy lunchroom. We just eat where we can. The guys here know their stuff and they don't talk much while they’re working. We keep things simple. If a job is too big for us, we say so. We don't like taking on things we can't finish. It’s a practical way to run a shop. We’re just a bunch of people working hard at Talkatora. Sometimes the lights flicker when everyone on the block starts their motors at once. It’s a bit noisy and greasy, but it’s what we do. We don't have a fancy mission statement or anything. We just make parts and hope they do what they're supposed to. That’s enough for us most days, just getting through the orders.
