We are Vikasratna Shetkari Utpadak Parchanda Producer Company Limited, and our office is just house number 314 in Parchanda village. This is out in Latur, so you can imagine the summers get pretty dry and dusty around here. Being a producer company means we are right in the middle of the farming community. We don't have a big office building in the city; we stay right where the farmers are. Most days, you’ll find a few of us sitting around the porch talking about the harvest or the price of fertilizer. The roads in Parchanda are okay, but they get a bit rough when the tractors are moving back and forth during the peak season. We try to keep track of what everyone is growing in the area. Latur is known for its pulses and oilseeds, so that’s usually what we’re dealing with at any given time. It’s hard work and the hours can be long when the season is busy. Sometimes we have meetings in the evening when the sun goes down and it’s a bit cooler. It’s a simple way of living and working. We know every face in the village, and they know us. There isn't any fancy paperwork or corporate meetings here. We just use the space we have to help move the crops and make sure everything is handled right. It’s a quiet life in Parchanda, but we keep busy enough with the daily farm business.
