Usturi Agro Producer Company Limited is based out in Nilanga, specifically at Usturi in the Latur district. Ashok Gundappa Birajdar is the main contact at our place. Latur is known for its farming, but it can be a hard place when the water runs low. We all know that too well. Our company is just a way for us local farmers to stick together. We aren't some big city firm. We are just guys who know what it’s like to wait for the rain. We meet at the house in Usturi and talk about what we are going to plant next. It’s a lot of conversation about seeds and soil and how to get a fair price. We don’t have any slick brochures or a website that looks perfect. We just have our reputation in the village. If you come to Nilanga, you will see the work we do. It’s dusty and tiring, but it’s our life. We try to help each other out when someone is short on supplies or needs an extra hand in the field. The company part of it is just the legal side so we can sell our stuff better. Mostly, we are just neighbors trying to make a living off the land. We take pride in the stuff we grow, even if we don't say it out loud much. We spend a lot of time keeping up with the government rules too.
