Social Connect Agri Livelihood Enterprise Private Limited is based in Latur. We work out of Shakuntala Upmanyu Patil’s house in India Nagar, which is part of the ST Colony. It’s a regular residential area, so it’s pretty quiet most of the time. We aren't a big, flashy enterprise despite what the name might sound like. We are just a small team trying to figure out how to help local farmers in Latur improve their livelihoods. The office is just a front room in the house where we’ve set up some computers and filing cabinets. We spend a lot of time talking to people from the surrounding villages who come into the city for supplies. Latur has seen some tough times with the weather, so we try to be a steady point of contact. We don't have a big marketing plan or a sales team. It’s mostly just us answering the phone and trying to connect people who have produce with people who want to buy it. It involves a lot of trial and error. Some days we feel like we’re making progress, and other days we’re just trying to keep up with the paperwork. We’re just a local business trying to do something useful for the community here in India Nagar. It is not always easy, but we are committed to being here and doing the work as best as we can.
