Shri Ganpatrao Patil Agro Producercompany Limited is located in the village of Naholi, in the Ausa taluka of Latur. You can find us at Balwant Ganpati Ghodke’s place, which is where we do all our planning and record-keeping for the group. Latur is a tough place for farming because of the water situation, so we have to be very careful with how we manage our resources throughout the year. Our group came together because we saw that working alone was getting harder every year. By joining up, we can share tools and help each other out during the peak harvest times when there are never enough hands to go around. We grow a lot of different things depending on what the soil allows, and we are always looking for better ways to handle the post-harvest work. The office isn't much to look at—just a desk, some chairs, and a lot of registers—but it’s where the important decisions happen for all of us. We don't use a lot of fancy words or complicated strategies. We just look at what we have, see what the market wants, and try to find the shortest path between the two. It’s a lot of sweating in the sun and then sitting under a fan to talk about money. We just want to keep the village economy moving so that people don't have to leave for the big cities just to survive and support their families.
