Shetkari Vishwas Agro Producer Company Limited operates out of Budhoda village in the Ausa area. We are based at Hanmant Chilme’s house, which is house number fourteen. It’s a small place in the Latur district where everyone knows their neighbors. We’ve all been farming for a long time, and we know how difficult it can be to get a fair price for your hard work. This company was formed so we could have a bit more say in how our crops are handled. We spend a lot of time sitting around talking about the monsoon and the crop diseases that seem to show up every year. It’s a very local effort. There isn't any big marketing team or a fancy office suite. It’s just us and our ledgers. Sometimes the cell service is bad, so we have to walk up the road to make calls. We handle everything from seeds to selling the final harvest. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we trust each other because we’ve lived in this village our whole lives. When there’s a problem with someone’s crop, we all try to pitch in with advice. The work is never really done. Even in the off-season, we are planning for the next year. We just want to make sure that the people in Budhoda can keep farming and making a decent living from their land without too many outside headaches. It is about simple trust and hard work.
