This group started up in the village of Hadolati, which is under the Ahmadpur tehsil here in Latur. We use Dhondopanth Ramrao Kulkarni’s place as our main base of operations. It is a real grassroots thing, just a bunch of farmers coming together to see if we can get better results by working as a unit instead of alone. Being a farmer producer company sounds a bit formal, but at the end of the day, we are just local guys from the village. We deal with whatever crops are in season and try to find the best way to sell them without getting a raw deal from the middlemen. Hadolati is a small place, so everyone knows each other’s business. We spend a lot of time talking under the trees or in the small office area about prices and the rain. It is not always easy to get everyone on the same page, but we try our best. We do not have a big corporate office in some city; we are right here in the middle of the fields where the work happens. Sometimes we struggle with the paperwork or the digital stuff, but we get it done eventually. Our focus is really just on the day-to-day reality of farming in this part of Maharashtra.
