Sangharsh Shetkari Producer Company Limited

We are based out of Nilanga, in the Latur district. The office is actually at Sanjiv Venkat Rakatate's place in Mugoan. Being a producer company means we are mostly just a group of farmers trying to work together. It’s tough farming in this part of Maharashtra sometimes, especially with the water situation being what it is. Sangharsh Shetkari Producer Company Limited was started because we felt we could handle our produce better if we didn't just go at it alone. We mostly look at how to get our crops to market without losing too much on the way. There are a lot of us involved now. We meet up at the post office area or at the house to talk about what we're planting next season. It's not a formal setup with suits and ties, just guys in the village trying to make a living. Latur gets really hot in the summer, and that's usually when we do most of our planning for the rains. We don't have any fancy equipment or a big warehouse yet. It's all very local. Most of the people around here know us by name anyway. We don't really have a big marketing plan. We just want to make sure the work we do in the fields actually pays off at the end of the day. It’s hard work, but having the company helps us stay organized together and look out for one another.
