We’re over in Ahamadpur, in the Reti area. The company is Khalsa Farmer Producer Company Limited. We use Brahmwati’s place as our main spot. It’s a humble setup, just like the rest of the village. Reti is a place where most people know each other. We spend our time working with the local farmers on their produce. It’s not a fancy business with suits and ties. We’re usually in our work clothes, coming in from the fields ourselves. Ahamadpur is where we grew up, so we care about what happens here. The company is just a way for us to stick together and get better results for our crops. We have a lot of meetings under the trees when it’s hot. Brahmwati helps keep everything in order. It’s a lot of work to keep track of everyone’s harvests and the prices. We don't have much in the way of high-tech equipment, just the basics. But it works for us. People come by when they have a concern or just to see how things are going. We try to be fair and honest with everyone. That’s the most important thing in a village like this. We’re just a bunch of neighbors trying to make a living from the land. It’s hard work, but we’re used to it. The dust from the road gets everywhere during the dry season. We just sweep it out and keep going. Ahamadpur is a place with a lot of history, and we feel connected to it. We aren't trying to change the world.
