Jawli Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based in the village of Jawali, which is part of the Ausa block here in Latur. Our company is basically a group of local farmers who decided to team up. We figured that if we worked together, we might have a better shot at getting fair prices for our produce. It’s not a fancy corporate setup. We usually meet under a tree or in someone’s front room to talk about what we’re going to plant or how the harvest is looking. Latur is known for its pulses and oilseeds, and that’s mostly what we deal with. The weather can be tough here, especially when the rains are late, so we spend a lot of time worrying about the sky. We don’t have any marketing experts or slick salesmen. We’re just the same people you see working in the fields every day. When you come to Jawali, you can ask anyone where the company is and they’ll point you to us. We’re just trying to cut out the middlemen so the people who actually do the hard work can keep a bit more of the money. It’s a slow process and we’ve had plenty of arguments along the way, but we’re still here. Our office is small and usually smells like grain. We don't care much for fancy furniture. We just need a place to keep our records and talk business. We’ve all known each other since we were kids, and that makes it easier to trust each other.
