Gaarva Agro Producer Company Limited is based out of Mendha, which is a small spot in the Ter sub-division near the border of Osmanabad and Latur. We use Shrihari Bhimrao Malimendha’s place as our main point of contact. The farming here can be tricky because the weather is always changing, and you never know if the monsoon will be kind or not. A group of us decided that we needed to stop acting like individuals and start acting like a team. That’s why we put this company together. We grow a variety of things, and everyone brings their own experience to the table. Some of the older guys know tricks about the weather that you can't find in books, while the younger guys are better at using the phone to check prices. We meet up at Shrihari’s house to figure out our plans for the next season. It’s not a corporate office with desks and chairs for everyone; usually, we just find a spot to sit and talk. We don't have a mission statement or any of that stuff. We just want to make sure that when we harvest our crops, we actually get a price that covers the cost of the seeds and the labor we put in. It’s a hard way to make a living, but when you have your neighbors working with you, it doesn't feel so lonely. We hope to stay here for a long time.
