Empire Marbles

Our place is located at 160 Surya Nagar Colony, right beside the Pochama Temple. If you are driving on the Bombay Highway Road near Toli Chowki, you probably passed us. We have got all sorts of marble slabs leaning against the walls. It is a big open space because the stones are heavy and we need room for the crane to move things around. The dust from the highway comes in all the time, so we are always sweeping. Being next to the temple means we hear the bells and the music throughout the day, which is actually quite nice when things get stressful. We have been at this spot for quite a few years now. The office is just a small cabin in the corner where we keep the bills and take some rest. Most of the time we are outside showing people the different patterns in the stone. Every piece of marble is different, so people spend a lot of time walking around and looking. Sometimes we have to move three big slabs just to show someone the one at the back. It is heavy work and our clothes usually end up covered in white powder by the end of the shift. We usually close up when it gets dark because the lighting out here isn't the best for seeing the true color of the stone. Sometimes we use the forklift for the really big pieces.
