Kanji & Brothers

Suraj Beat Road is where we spend most of our days at Kanji & Brothers. It’s right by the Bhuj Gate, so there is always something going on outside our door. We’ve been here long enough that the sounds of the traffic and the people passing through the gate just feel like background noise now. Usually, we start the morning by opening up the shutters and letting some air in, though the dust from the road comes in too. It is a family thing here, just a few of us handling the daily tasks and making sure things are moving along. Some days are slower than others, which gives us time to sit and talk about whatever is happening in the neighborhood. We don’t have any fancy office furniture or big signs, just the basics we need to do our work. When people stop by, they usually know what they are looking for, so we keep things pretty straightforward. The building isn't new, and you can see the wear on the walls, but it works for us. We handle the paperwork, talk to the folks who come in, and try to keep everything organized in our own way. It’s not a complicated life here on Suraj Beat Road. We just show up, do what needs doing, and head home when the sun starts to go down. That is how it has been for years and we don’t see that changing anytime soon.
