Our place is right on the Wayanad Main Road, specifically over in Chennalode. Yeskay Coffee Curing Works is where we spend almost all of our working hours. It is a place where we process coffee, and it involves a lot of hard physical work. We have the big machines and the large drying yards. You can hear the noise from the main road all day. It is a bit out of the way but it sits right on the main path. We get trucks coming in with raw beans and they eventually leave with the processed ones. It is a cycle that does not stop much during the busy season. The dust is just part of the job here. We all wear our old clothes because things get dirty very fast. It is not a corporate office with clean desks and computers everywhere. It is a curing works. We walk around the yard, check the moisture levels, and see to the heavy bags. It has been here in Chennalode for a long time. People in the nearby village know us well. We are not trying to be anything big or fancy. We just stay focused on the curing process. Sometimes the sun is really hot and the work feels a bit slow. Other times we are rushing to cover everything before the rain hits us. It is a basic life but it keeps us very busy. We take care of the coffee that comes through our gates. That is really all there is. No big speeches.
